Daily Active COVID cases in India may reach 3 Million mark reports firm Nomura
India’s daily Covid-19 cases could hit as high as 3 million a day if the Omicron-driven third wave follows the same transmission level like the United States, financial services firm Nomura said in a note on Friday, warning that the healthcare system could be over burdned and breakdown. The caseload could be smaller at 740,000 a day if the per million infection are similar to South Africa, as per the report.
Nomura the finacial service firm cautioned that the third wave will not only lower growth, but also raise inflation, which will not only lower the growth rate but also increase the inflation in country which may push Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to reconsider REPO rate in next financial year starting from April 2022
