Powerful earthquake shakes Argnetina

Despite a strong magnitude 6.8 earthquake shaking northern Argentina on Friday, no immediate indications of damage were available.

The earthquake occurred at 8:09 p.m. local time, with an epicentre approximately 15 miles (24 kilometres) southwest of Campo Gallo in the province of Santiago del Estero. It was 610 kilometres deep.
