At the Commonwealth Games 2022, India wins the first-ever lawn bowls gold medal, defeating South Africa 17-10 in a thrilling final.

India has never received a medal in lawn bowls from the Commonwealth Games. The women’s fours team, led by Rupa Rani Tirkey, and included Lovely Choubey, Pinki, and Nayanmoni Saikia, managed to defeat South Africa 17-10 in the gold-medal game’s see-saw final.

Tuesday’s gold-winning lawn bowls women’s fours performance by India at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham created history.
The team, led by Rupa Rani Tirkey, Lovely Choubey, Pinki, and Nayanmoni Saikia, earned the nation’s first lawn bowls medal, and after defeating the 2018 silver medalists South Africa, they went on to win the championship.
