West Bengal to be renamed as Bangla?

West Bengal’s government has submitted a petition to the federal government for the state to be renamed “Bangla,”

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) notified the Parliament that “A proposal has been received from the Government of West Bengal for renaming the State as Bangla in all three languages, i.e. Bengali, English, and Hindi.” Minister of State in MHA Nityanand Rai stated in a written response to the Lok Sabha that MHA has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the proposals received over the previous five years for renaming cities throughout the nation.
